Parents, your child's success will ultimately depend on you. Please take the time to review your child's daily planner every evening to ensure all assignments are completed so they are always prepared for class. Additionally, if you have not done so sign on to Parent Connect to regularly monitor your child's grades, citizenship, and attendance. If you need assistance signing on to Parent Connect please speak with your child's teacher or an administrator. Your support and participation in the Fulton community in a number of capacities is welcome and we look forward to working with you to make this school year a success.
Remember, Fulton is only as strong and successful as WE, THE FULTON COMMUNITY, MAKE IT!
Research shows that when parents are actively involved with their children's education, students' grades are higher, their self-esteem is greater, and they are more socially adjusted. In fact, the most accurate indicator of a student's academic success in school is not tied to family income or social status, but the extent to which a family:
-
Creates a home environment that encourages learning.
-
Sets high but realistic achievement and career expectations.
-
Becomes involved in their child's education and in the community.
In addition to attending parent-teacher conferences and other special events, opportunities to get involved at your child's school abound. A few examples include:
-
Tutoring
-
Mentoring
-
Classroom read alouds
-
Classroom assistance
-
Non-classroom assistance (field trips, media center, etc.)
-
Organization involvement (PTA, foundation, School Site Council, etc.)
-
Before-and after-school programs
